We need to firstly know, what Parables in the Bible are or to be more precise, we need know what the Parables of Jesus Christ were about.
Many of us think, Parables are stories told by the Lord Jesus to bring His point across. But the Bible does not support that understanding; actually it’s quite the opposite. The Lord Jesus said that Parables were deep Mysteries (to be unlocked) and only He can do this for us.
The Lord Jesus defined Parables in Mark 4:11-12:
11 And He said to them,
“To you it has been given to know the mystery
of the kingdom of God; but to those who are outside,
all things come in parables,12 so that
‘Seeing they may see and not perceive,
And hearing they may hear and not understand;
Lest they should turn,
And their sins be forgiven them.”
We limit Christ Jesus’ prophetic Parables,
by taking its application to its present situation.
God’s words in Hosea 12:10 further clarify:
“I have also spoken to the Prophets,
And I gave numerous visions,
And through the prophets I gave Parables”
You see, ‘Bible Parables’ are prophetical mysteries and so was Christ Jesus’ Parable of the Wedding Banquet (Matthew 22:1-14) too. In fact the prophetic beginnings of the ‘Banquet Invitation’ are found in Proverbs 9:1-6.
Matthew 22:1-4
And Jesus answered and spoke to them again by parables and said:2 “The kingdom of heaven is like a certain king who arranged a marriage for his son,3 and sent out his servants to call those who were invited to the wedding; and they were not willing to come.4 Again, he sent out other servants, saying, ‘Tell those who are invited, “See, I have prepared my dinner; my oxen and fatted cattle are killed, and all things are ready. Come to the wedding.”’
This Invitation, true to God’s Word, first goes out to ‘The Invited’ – ‘Christians’ but as a ‘Corner Stone’. To many this ‘Date’ will be an offence rather than a ‘Good News’. The wise (humble in spirit) will believe and accept, who are not stained with the arrogance of self-righteousness, which at times so subtly rubs on to God’s people as Bible History repeatedly shows us. The foolish (proud in spirit) on the other hand will reject and stumble over this ‘Corner Stone’.
Remember, we will err greatly, if we try using our head knowledge, in understanding any heavenly revelations, however knowledgeable, righteous or zealous we are for the Lord (and the bible is full of those examples). Any application of head knowledge, becomes a catalyst for the Conner Stone turning into a Stumbling Block. On the other hand, take the example of Andrew the fisherman, who ran to proclaim the ‘Good News’ to his brother Peter ‘We have found the Messiah’ (John 1:41), and it did not require theology to understand that. The prophetic words in Daniel 12:10 had a direct reference to this great mystery, revealing when it’s unlocked at the end of time “none of the wicked will understand, but those who have insight will understand”.
Take heed it comes in these last days from the Lord God to separate the “wheat from the chaff and the sheep from the goats”, yes to separate the ones producing fruits and the ones who are not, as prophesied in Matthew 21:42-43. Think about it, if the Holy Lord God, repeatedly tested His people, as we read through the bible, wouldn’t the same Holy God want to test the intent of every heart today too, especially at the threshold of us, entering our spiritual and eternal Canaan? In more so knowing that, the prophesied Apostasy (2 Timothy 4:3-4) would come in the Last Days and has come, as we see and is growing today.
Make no mistake, for the Bible is very clear, that the Lord Jesus will appear the second time, only to redeem His overcoming believers, who have been zealous for good deeds for Him (Titus 2:11-15; Hebrew 9:28; 1 Peter 1:13-17; 2 Peter 3:12-14; Revelation 2:5; Revelation 3:2-6).
Beloved of Christ, the loving Lord God has revealed ‘His Day of Appearing’ in His loving kindness, wanting none to perish. The hour has come for us to wake-up and prepare to meet our Lord. The Lord Jesus’ prophetic ‘Wedding Invitation’ goes out today (first to every believer before it goes to others in the highways and by lanes) for the time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand.
Psalm 107:43
Who is wise? Let him give heed to these things,
And consider the loving kindnesses of the LORD.
